FLORA
FLORA WAS MY VERY FIRST MURAL.
When I returned from Bali, earlier than I expected, my apartment in Lisbon was still rented. So, I took this chance to do something I was willing for a very long time – to move to the countryside. I started visiting several friends around Portugal and ended up in São Luis (a tiny village I never heard of before), where most of the communities and permaculture projects are based.
After living for some months in communities, I was forced to realize that my creativity only happens when I am alone, in silence. I am currently renting a beautiful small piece of land with a tiny house - a magical place, in the middle of the forest, where I find the quietness needed for the art to happen.
During the lock downs, young people living in and around São Luis joined forces to create Espaço Nativa — a project focused on cooperation and circular economy — to which I offered this mural.
By this time, my painting technique was very basic (not to say, non-existent) so it took me sooooo long to finish it - from buying low quality paints to using smaller brushes than I should... It was hard work, but the final result is very fulfilling!
